RHINO-STOP® 240 - Heavy-Duty Guardrail for High Speed Impact Zones
The RHINO-STOP® 240 Guardrail system, developed and manufactured by Safe Direction, is specifically designed for areas within car parks where vehicles are likely to travel at higher speeds—such as the ends of ramps and long, straight access aisles. These high-risk zones demand a barrier system with significantly greater impact capacity, and RHINO-STOP® 240 delivers exactly that.
Engineered with energy-absorbing baseplates, RHINO-STOP® 240 dissipates vehicle impact forces, reducing the peak loads on anchor bolts and minimising damage to the surrounding structure. The system’s controlled deflection allows for the impact load to be shared across multiple posts, enhancing safety and overall durability.
Additional Information
The modular construction of RHINO-STOP® 240 makes it ideal for new builds and retrofits alike. It can be customised on-site and is compatible with optional handrails, sight rails, and mesh infill panels—ensuring both vehicle containment and pedestrian fall protection in elevated parking environments.

RHINO-STOP® 240 Guardrail FAQs
How does RhinoStop® 240 work?
All RHINO-STOP® barriers feature a patented yielding base plate that absorbs impact energy, reducing force on anchor points and protecting the concrete slab from damage.
What Standards were referenced to evaluate RhinoStop® 240?
RHINO-STOP® 240 has been independently crash tested to meet the 240kN impact load (Type F End of Ramp) as specified in AS/NZS 1170.1, Clause 3.8, ensuring maximum safety in high-speed impact zones.
What crash tests were performed with RhinoStop® 240?
A 1500kg vehicle travelling at 30km/h impacted a single w-beam panel supported by six posts, with the collision point 0.5 metres above ground level, simulating real-world crash conditions.
What is the minimum number of posts required for a RhinoStop® 240 installation?
To comply with the 240kN impact load (Type F End of Ramp) under AS/NZS 1170.1, Clause 3.8, each RHINO-STOP® 240 installation requires a minimum of six (6) posts for structural performance.
What is the spacing between posts?
To meet the 240kN impact load standard (Type F End of Ramp) under AS/NZS 1170.1, Clause 3.8, post spacing must not exceed 800mm in RHINO-STOP® 240 installations.
How is RhinoStop® 240 manufactured?
RHINO-STOP® 240 is built from high-strength steel, featuring hot dip galvanised posts and w-beam rails for superior durability and long-term corrosion protection.
Can RHINO-STOP 240 Connect to RHINO-STOP Standard Guard Rails
When a barrier extends into a down ramp or high-speed zone, standard RHINO-Posts® at 2m centres are replaced with RHINO-STOP® 240 posts at 800mm centres to meet increased impact demands—without altering the alignment of the w-beam guardrail.
